Goodreads: Book Reviews

Die App an sich ist super, alles ist übersichtlich, was man ändern könnte wäre das Sterne-/Bewertungssystem. Bis jetzt kann man nur 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Sterne geben, es wäre aber super praktisch wenn man so z.B. halbe Sterne geben könnte. Ich zum Beispiel habe eben King of Envy von Ana Huang beendet und fand, dass es weder ein 4 noch ein 5 Sterne Buch war, nur dadurch dass man keine halben Sterne geben kann, gab ich 4 Sterne ein und so wird ja teilweise das Rating vom Buch in der App an sich verfälscht. Daran könnte man deshalb noch feilen.

The idea for the app is great. It’s a bit more difficult to find books that are not originally in English language. Or when you try to find a book it will first show you its English translation so I guess it’s mostly made for English readers. My greatest criticism is though that when you browse for new books you’ll only ever find recommendations based on one other book or other readers‘ taste. It would be so much more fun if the algorithm worked like Spotify‘s and the recommendations would be based on all the books you liked and rated.

love the app but please introduce .5 and .25 star ratings. Sometimes a book isn’t quite a 3 stars but more of a 3.5 or 3.75 stars. That’s the reason why Goodreads isn’t the only app I use. I also use Fable, which has this feature.

Readers: We want a DNF option, half star ratings, a surface that doesn’t look like straight from the 2000s and a dark mode. Goodreads: Here, have this mediocre „new“ logo 🤪 Well … I love tracking with Goodreads, but somehow they still manage to ignore every single wish from their community.

Es wäre richtig toll, wenn es die Option abgebrochen geben würde. Man kann zwar eigene Kategorien erstellen, aber man muss das Buch auch immer in eine der drei Kategorien einordnen, was ich doof finde, wenn ichs zwar angefangen aber abgebrochen hab. Ich will es nicht ganz löschen, aber auch nicht so tun als hätte ich es wirklich komplett gelesen. Im Übrigen eine sehr tolle App! My social network on Goodreads remains frustratingly small, limited to people I already know in real life. The app would benefit greatly from better community-building features to help users find and connect with like-minded readers beyond their existing social circles. Overall, Goodreads excels as a personal reading tracker but misses the mark on fostering the kind of vibrant book community that could make the platform truly special.
